Sometimes

Two Poems by Aiden Brown

My Cat Pisses the Bed

sometimes
it’s not his fault, he had that
stroke and he’s having one of his
episodes that are apparently not seizures; they prescribed prozac for him and
I’m not sure if it helps.
I found a kitten and she likes
him better than me, even though I
saved her life
I have to take that medication they give to
victims of gun shot wounds to make them
bleed less and I am tempting
fate by getting married,
and buying white
linen
sheets

Perpetuity

my birthday flowers
are dying, and there is
plant matter on the shelf, the
sink is never empty, and there is
a mountain nearby, always in
the distance
