There’s a Cat

Overwhelm Unabridged

I can not join in, was the line when I was young.
I cannot join words together if the rules say so;
often there’s irony now, perhaps hyperbole (sayso)
until the non-joiner-inner gets older, a fidget spinner
rounding on reality and saying in rising terminal:

even
not
can
  I

There’s a Cat

in the stairwell of my block of flats who, when it sees you return, jumps up at you and wags its tail. I saw it fetch a little ball once. Yeah, I just checked, it's a dog. Never mind.
